Tom works with CEOs and Boards of research and R&D organizations to create the internal alignment; the framework, environment, and management processes for commercialization transactions to successfully emerge.  He brings the experience of having been a successful CFO/COO of a major Silicon Valley based R&D organization for nearly two decades.

Tom works with startups and entrepreneurs to develop business plans, value propositions, and investor presentations.   He brings the experience of helping a long list of startups, from their launch through their life cycle, in many cases to a successful exit.

Executive in Residence, assisting MIT with translational innovation.  Tom provides: assistance to MIT, and to MIT partners, in the identification and cultivation of high value commercialization opportunities.  He also provides advice on improving MIT’s innovation process

Gladstone is a San Francisco based independent life sciences  research and R&D center.  It employs 500 staff, many of them MDs,  including recent Nobel Laureates.  Tom meets with the CEO and other senior executives with a goal to improve their commercialization and to continuously improve their overall operations.  He also assists by serving on the Gladstone Foundation Board of Directors.

SVEN is an invitation based network of 1,000  individuals who serve in key leadership positions in Silicon Valley firms.  The roster includes venture capitalists, and other investors plus CXOs from every size organization in a wide range of industries.  As a strategic advisor, Tom is assisting SVEN to expand its capabilities to include innovation and commercialization services to domestic and international organizations seeking to partner with The Valley.  

 CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization) is Australia's National innovation catalyst with a charter to drive the economic and social well being of Australia by translating science and technology into high value innovations.  Tom is an advisor to CSIRO on improving their commercialization process.

Silicon Valley start-up with $7M in funding from multiple investors; disruptive new flexible circuits technology; 5 member Board including CEO and investors (2007 through mid 2014)

Private for profit; $100M/yr. revenue, 400 staff; contract R & D and commercialization firm; 10 member board with inside and outside directors, Audit Committee member (2007 through 2011)

Not-for-profit providing on-line resources for seriously ill children (1999 through 2005)
